History:

Handbatik is a traditional fabric dyeing technique where wax is applied to create intricate patterns. Using a tool called kantang, the artist applies hot wax to specific areas of fabric to block dye. The fabric is then dyed, and the waxed areas remain untouched by color. The process is repeated for more colors, building complex patterns. After dyeing, the wax is removed, revealing the design. Handbatik requires skill and patience, making each piece unique. It holds cultural significance in Indonesia and has influenced global textile art.
